En av Islands mest populära avelshingstar, Óskasteinn frá Íbishóli fick avlivas akut efter sviterna av ett kraftigt kolikanfall. Óskasteinn blev hederspremierad 2020 och själv hade han en ridegenskapsbedömning på 9,12 och därav 9,5 för tölt, pass och 10,0 för samarbetsvilja som var den vackre brune hingstens signum. Enastående lynne som han även starkt nedärvde till sina avkommor. Ishestnews beklagar sorgen.
In memory of a great horse and a true friend.
Our beloved Óskasteinn from Íbishóll was taken from us on Friday 7th January. He had symptoms of colic and was driven straight to the veterinary clinic at Glæsibæ. He was in shock and had a high fever and did not survive the operation. It turned out that the duodenum which is the first part of the small intestine located between the stomach and the middle part of the small intestine had ruptured. The reason for the rupture is unclear and the ruptured part of the duodenum has been sent for further investigations.
Óskasteinn was always a very special horse both for his naturally talented gaits and his character. He will be deeply missed every day, but we are also very thankful for all the good memories and all the amazing offspring that he gave us!
